DS Thompson, created by Dubina Nikolay of Flava Fontz & D-Studio, is a free distorted caps display font with a stark, hand-cut silhouette. Its tall, compressed letters shift between thick slabs and skinny vertical strokes, with uneven edges and abruptly squared shapes. The irregular construction gives the lettering the raw look of improvised poster type.
Underground music and offbeat performance are natural subjects for this angular lettering. It suits gig posters, album packaging, and experimental theater graphics, where the narrow forms can become part of a tense, unruly graphic style. Those recurring blade-like strokes also make strong motifs for merchandise and event branding built around punk, industrial, or avant-garde imagery.
